Training to become a Dunstan Baby Language professional
The Dunstan Baby Language training is for baby professionals who wish to use Dunstan Baby Language in their work as, for example, a maternity nurse, lactation consultant, midwife, nurse, pre-verbal speech therapist, pediatric physiotherapist, daycare worker, or child health clinic doctor. The training enhances the professional's skills in recognizing Baby Language sounds and trains the baby professional to apply the information about Dunstan Baby Language in their daily work as a professional.
The training
The Basic Training consists of 2 online meetings. The first lesson lasts 2.5 hours and the second lesson approximately 3 hours. There is a period of about two months between these two lessons.
In the first course session and with the online course material, the five Dunstan Baby Language sounds are taught, and information is provided about the discovery of Dunstan Baby Language by Priscilla Dunstan and about the extensive research.
In the two months following the start of the training, the participant is asked to study the online course book, complete the questions accompanying the various chapters, and write a report on the application of Dunstan Baby Language in at least two practical situations relevant to their own work.
Please note: It is therefore necessary that you can create multiple (at least 2) observation sessions with babies.
Participants also gain access to the online Listening Exam. This tests the participant's listening comprehension. A retake is possible.
During the second meeting, the experiences of all training participants are discussed, and the application of Dunstan Baby Language in practice is further practiced using real-life situations.
Target group and admission
No specific prior education is required for the course. If you are not (yet) working as a baby professional, we will contact you to get acquainted and hear how this course fits into your plans.
Please note: for the training, you must find at least one family with whom you can practice explaining the 5 reflex sounds.
In addition, observe as many other babies as possible so that you have observed all reflex sounds and can describe them in your reflection report.
Please note: the above concerns babies aged 0 months up to and including 4 months.
Location
Our training courses are provided online (via Zoom). You can therefore decide for yourself from which location you wish to participate.
Study load
The Dunstan Baby Language training for professionals is not a standalone workshop, but a full-fledged training program. The training consists of two extensive live lessons of 2.5 hours each, mandatory home study of approximately 15 hours, and individual guidance.
Participants are actively assessed and complete the program with a certificate.
Requirements
The course is delivered online (via Zoom). Ideally, you should take the course from a laptop or PC, but you can also participate from a tablet or phone if desired.
Ensure a quiet environment and a good internet connection.
You will receive a course folder from us by post. Please bring your own pen and paper to make notes if necessary.
The reflection reports must be created in Word and also uploaded as a Word file to your online learning environment.

In addition, observe as many other babies as possible so that you have observed all reflex sounds and can describe them in your reflection report.
Certification
If the participant has attended all lessons, completed the open-book test and the listening test, and submitted at least two satisfactory reports on practical situations, the participant will receive a Dunstan Baby Language Certificate. After this, you can use the method in your daily work as a birth care professional.
Please note: after completing this training, you are not yet permitted to teach courses to parents/guardians. You must complete the supplementary module for this.
The training of professionals is reserved for Dunstan Babytaal Nederland. It is therefore not permitted to train colleagues or other professionals.
The certificate has a validity period of 3 years.
To retain your certificate, it is important to take the refresher course on time. If you do not do this on time, your certificate will expire, and it will be necessary to start the training again if you wish to continue using the Dunstan Baby Language method.

Accreditation
KCKZ
The professional associations for maternity nurses have accredited the Dunstan Baby Language Training with 8 study points in categories C and D.
KNOV
The Royal Dutch Organisation of Midwives (KNOV), Midwifery Quality Register, has accredited the Basic Baby Language Training for 5 points under category A; continuing education for the Midwifery Quality Register.
Other accreditations can be applied for in consultation.

Participation in the regular training dates costs €495.

Dunstan Babytaal Nederland is registered with the Central Register for Short Vocational Education. As a result, the training and teaching materials can be offered VAT-exempt.
Payment in installments is negotiable.
