Training to become a Dunstan Baby Language professional
The Dunstan Baby Language training program is for baby professionals who want to use Dunstan Baby Language in their work as a maternity nurse, lactation consultant, midwife, nurse, preverbal speech therapist, pediatric physiotherapist, childcare worker, or child health clinic doctor. The program enhances the professional's skills in recognizing baby language sounds and trains them to apply Dunstan Baby Language information in their daily work.
The training
The Basic Training consists of two online sessions. The first session lasts 2.5 hours, and the second session is approximately 3 hours. There is a period of approximately two months between these two sessions.
The first course session and online course materials will teach you the five Dunstan Baby Language sounds, provide information about Priscilla Dunstan's discovery of Dunstan Baby Language, and provide information about her extensive research.
In the two months following the start of the training, participants are asked to study the online course book, complete the questions in the various chapters, and write a report on applying Dunstan Baby Language in at least two practical situations related to their own work.
Please note: It is therefore necessary that you can create multiple (at least 2) observation moments with babies.
Participants will also have access to the online Listening Exam, which assesses their listening skills. Resit is possible.
During the second meeting, the experiences of all training participants will be discussed, and the application of Dunstan Baby Language will be further practiced using practical situations.
Target group and admission
No specific prior education is required for this program. If you are not (yet) working as a baby professional, we will contact you to meet and discuss how this program fits into your plans.
Please note: for the training you must find at least 1 family with whom you can practice explaining the 5 reflex sounds.
In addition, you observe as many other babies as possible, so that you have observed all reflex sounds and can describe them in your reflection report.
Please note: the above concerns babies aged from 0 months to 4 months old.
Location
Our courses are delivered online (via Zoom), so you can choose your preferred location.
Study load
In total, the course requires approximately 20 hours of study, including Zoom classes.
Requirements
The course will be held online (via Zoom). Ideally, you'll follow the course from a laptop or PC, but you can also participate from a tablet or phone.
Make sure you have a quiet environment and a good internet connection.
You'll receive a lesson plan from us in the mail. Please bring a pen and paper to take notes if needed.
The reflection reports should be created in Word and also uploaded as a Word file to your online learning environment.

Certification
If the participant attends all lessons, completes the open-book test, the listening test, and submits at least two satisfactorily graded reports of practical situations, they will receive a Dunstan Baby Language Certificate. Afterward, you can use the method in your daily work as a maternity care professional.
Please note: After completing this course, you are not permitted to teach courses to parents/guardians. You will need to complete the supplementary module for this.
Training professionals is the exclusive domain of Dunstan Babytaal Nederland. Therefore, training colleagues or other professionals is not permitted.
The certificate is valid for 3 years.
To maintain your certification, it's important to complete the refresher course on time. If you don't complete it on time, your certificate will expire, and you'll need to restart the training if you wish to continue using the Dunstan Baby Language method.

The professional association for maternity nurses has accredited the Dunstan Baby Language Training with 8 credits.

Participation in the regular training dates costs €495.

Dunstan Baby Language Netherlands is registered with the Central Register for Short Vocational Education. This allows the training and teaching materials to be offered VAT-free.
